If you follow our site or Instagram, chances are you follow one or two other accounts that also post over the top desserts. Cotton candy ice cream, birthday cake macarons, the list goes on & on. Yet all these incredibly tasty & Instagrammable desserts have one thing in common: they’re never to be found in the Chicagoland area. That was until recently when West Loop based dessert hot spot, BomboBar, launched the most incredible hot chocolates you’ve ever seen (or tasted for that matter). Thanks to BomboBar, you can now have your cake hot chocolate & eat drink it too!
Both hot chocolate options not only are decorated to encompass their true flavor but the hot chocolate itself is flavored. Each one is topped with a donut, cookie, whipped cream or marshmallow fluff, & more. As if it couldn’t get any better, BomboBar offers the option to enjoy them at Bar Siena, BomboBar, or to-go making getting to work in the negative temperatures a bit more bearable!
Of course the hot chocolate is beyond delicious & picture perfect, but their gelato? Out. Of. This World. With over 10 flavors to choose from theres at least one option (or 8 in our case…) for everyone. Our absolute favorites include the s’mores (sensing a theme here yet?), cherry swirl, & banana split. If you’re looking to really go all out opt for their gelato cookie sandwiches–you won’t regret it.
Another must have at our new favorite spot is their namesake, bombolini’s. Sticking with the theme we chose a s’mores bombo & it was everything we’ve dreamed of & more. A soft, sugary donut topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate chunks, graham crackers, & the cutest food accessory ever: a “squeeze me” bottle filled with warm, delicious s’mores filling. Once again, BomboBar did not disappoint with their tasty yet stunning treats.
