There is absolutely, positively no reason you shouldn’t make this milkshake. It only requires 3 ingredients, 1 tool for cleanup, & 4 minutes of your time (not even 5 minutes, people). Plus, it tastes like a heavenly slice of cake mixed with a creamy milkshake because, well, that’s exactly what it is.
If you want to take your cake shake to the next level, dip the rim of your glass in cake batter ganache (recipe: here) & top it with a half of a half slice of layered cake (recipe: here). Sure that will all be a bit more time consuming but that also means you’ll have an entire cake for you to eat. I’d call that a win-win.
This bad boy is guaranteed to rack up the likes on Instagram & will have everyone drooling IRL for it. Side note: is it sad I just found out what IRL means (in real life for those of you out there who struggle with being cool like me!). When I tasted this milkshake for the first time I immediately thought, “this MUST be what Kelis is talkin’ about”. Use the recipe below to make one milkshake or double, triple, quadruple it for more servings! The proportions are a bit flexible so don’t fret if you put in a bit too much ice cream. When was the last time that ever hurt anyone?!
- 6 large scoops vanilla ice cream
- ½ cup dry cake mix
- ½ cup milk
- In blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Serve & enjoy!
blender (alternative: NutriBullet)
measuring cup
cup, for serving (alternative: mason jars)
straws, optional

Oh my! This milkshake looks incredible! It’s been way too long since I last had a milkshake. Like the real kind of 50’s milkshake like this one. This milkshake would make for a perfect dessert. It totally reminds me of something from Grease! Love it <3

Uh, how cute are those photos. I love cake batter froyo so this sounds like a delicious recipe. I’d have to make mine with lactose-free dairy products though.
