I wanted my bedroom to feel like an escape. A cozy yet chic place that I could come to both unwind & get inspired. I turned part of the room into a mini home office & the rest into a zen zone. I stuck to mainly all white furniture with pops of color throughout the artwork (I knew I just had to have one of these cute felt boards), clothing on the rack (can you tell I’m a pastel hoarder??), & pillowcases. It was such a great feeling starting fresh & the white palette was the perfect way to emulate that feeling. All of my furniture in Chicago were hand-me-downs so truthfully it wasn’t worth the price-tag of lugging that furniture cross country when I could buy new (or vintage!) for nearly the same price. I truly don’t think there wasn’t a website, Pinterest board, or Instagram feed within the home decor field that I didn’t spend hours stalking. Those weeks of doing so paid off as I truly couldn’t be happier in my new home. I searched everywhere from teen websites (PBteen is my absolute favorite for durable & stunning pieces that are a fraction of the price of regular furniture! Just be sure to check the dimensions. It’s where I got my nightstand & it’s easily one of the most essential parts of my room.), to online boutiques to major manufacturers to create the cozy beach bungalow of my dreams. In a brand new city it’s incredible to me that (sorry in advanced, Mom!) this place already feels like home.
One portion of my bedroom that was super important to me was the bed itself, obviously. I researched the best of the best for all the categories that make up a bed & could not be happier with the result. In Chicago I had Slip Silk Pillowcases & they were my absolute favorite. Truthfully, they were the first item on my shopping list as I couldn’t imagine sleeping without them now (I also got their eye mask & I swear it helps to depuff & of course, sleep better)! They’re beyond comfortable to sleep on, work wonders for your skin & hair, & look absolutely stunning. For my comforter, I found an online luxury boutique, Lavish Comforts, which makes comforters that feel like clouds. Seriously, the second I unpacked it I jumped into my unmade bed (it was legit just the mattress on the floor, ha!) with my new blanket & snuggled up to it. As for my mattress, well, here’s the thing: I obviously needed it to be cozy enough to get a great sleep each & every night but as someone who works from home majority of the time, I also needed it to be sturdy enough to work from (ha!). My friends Olivia & Ali, both bloggers who faced the same dilemma, each have the Tuft & Needle mattress that they were obsessed with. With it’s price point & convenience I was a bit hesitant but oh my goodness you guys!! This mattress is a dreaaaaam. Seriously it’s exactly what I wanted & I sleep like a freakin’ baby in it! The pillows are also from Tuft & Needle which if as you can tell, I’m slightly obsessed with that company…
Other smaller details that make a huge difference in my room are items such as the cutest pink throw there ever was from Burke Decor (Warning: you’ll want e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. from this website.), my cactus plant (shh it’s fake!), & the cutest baskets from Bloomingville & Grace Gordon (Easily two of my favorite brands ever! Plus, both baskets double as adorable purses!). Grace Gordon also makes this chic net bag that I fill with flowers & hang on the side of my mirror when I’m not using it at the market.
