Time.com reported embroidered denim as one of the biggest trends for this season based on the street style looks of NYFW this September. Since many of our favorite looks encompassing this trend were either runway pieces or upwards of $2K (for a jean jacket!) we decided to take matters into our own hands & create an embroidered jacket ourselves. Snag a denim jacket for under $45 here or at your local thrift store & order some fun patches from sites like Etsy to create this fun look. Once you have the jacket & your patches, all you’ll be needing is some fabric glue & you’re good to go! If you’d prefer sewing or ironing on your patches more power to ya! It’s not necessary but definitely adds a bit of security.
Step 1: Place cardboard or plastic inside jacket to prevent glue from leaking through. Arrange patches in spots you’d like without glue to get a feel for the overall jacket.
Step 2: Once patches are in desired spots, line back of patches with glue. Place patch in desired spot & press down for 1 minute. Let sit 24 hours with heavy object (i.e. textbook) over the patches to secure in place.
