Nutella Frosting & Ganache Recipe

Two simple recipes combining everyones favorite sweet treat: Nutella.

Too often I get asked the questions: what is your favorite restaurant? what is your favorite dessert to make? what do you like to cook? Truth be told, I never have an answer to that question as it is always changing. I’ve tried over 100 restaurants in Chicago alone so clearly it’s very difficult to pick a favorite in that city itself! One constant that I do love to make however is my grandma’s banana bread recipe. Although I’m not sharing that recipe with you today (sorry!) I will share the recipes for Nutella frosting & ganache that I put on the banana bread!

A classic, banana bread, & a trendy but quickly becoming a staple in most kitchen, Nutella, taste absolutely perfect paired together. The moistness of banana bread plus the sweetness of Nutella, what more could you ask for in a dessert?!

Nutella Frosting & Ganache Recipe

Ingredients

  • for frosting:
  • 1½ stick butter
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • for ganache:
  • ¾ cup Nutella
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  • for ganache:
  • In microwave safe bowl, combine Nutella & heavy whipping cream. Microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir. If shiny & smooth, drizzle or pour over cake. If too liquidy or thick, repeat microwave step.
  • for frosting:
  • In mixer, combine butter, cream, & vanilla until smooth.
  • Stir in Nutella over medium speed. Once combined, add in powdered sugar ½ cup at a time. Mix on medium speed until well combined & fluffy.
  • Top cake with frosting & ganache as desired. Enjoy!
