DIY Pumpkin Crayon Drip Project

We’ve all done the crayon drip on a canvas before but with fall in full swing & Halloween just around the corner, this updated version is exactly what you need to be making!

A very simple DIY that involves: one box of crayons, one pumpkin, some glue, & a blow dryer. Seriously, that’s it! Here’s how to make it:

What you’ll need:

Shop This DIY: pumpkin | knife | blow dryer (under $15!) | crayons | glue (or this)

Step 1: Wash your pumpkin with cold water & dry completely.

Step 2: Cut crayons in half & unwrap top pointed portion of the crayon.

Step 3: Glue crayons pointing outward & around the tendril (handle) of the pumpkin.

Step 4: Let glue dry completely & then apply heat. All done!

Tips:

Depending on if you’re using a plastic or real pumpkin, different glues might work best. I used a real pumpkin & found halfway through that Super Glue was my best option. For a plastic option, I’ve found a hot glue gun works best.

Depending on the wax & texture of your crayon you may find it hard to get the glue to stick. Try different glues & crayons until you find the best combo for you. (My combo: real pumpkin, Super Glue, & Crayola crayons)

Line work area with paper towel or newspaper–these crayons will splatter all over your table!

When using the blow dryer I used low heat & it took about 30 seconds to 1 minute for each crayon to melt completely. Angling the blow dryer different ways lets the paint splatter all over your pumpkin!
