Where To Eat: Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken

Well people, the hype is 100% real when it to Gus’s Fried Chicken. We headed over to the Memphis staple which opened it’s doors in Chicago earlier this year & boy did we leave happy. Happy & completely stuffed, as you should be when leaving Gus’s. Everything from the sides to staples we’re better than we could have ever expected. We’re here today to share with you the absolute must orders when you go to Gus’s, which you should do, asap, like right after reading this post.

Let’s start with what everyone really wants to know about: the fried chicken. We opted for a 3 piece white meat meal & will be sure to order that every time we go back. The meat was cooked to perfection: juicy inside & crispy outside. Each bite was truly better than the last. Served with coleslaw, white bread, & a side of beans we found ourselves making mini chicken sandwiches with all ingredients & it was legendary.

As for sides, we definitely recommend the mac & cheese (just look at that picture…no explanation required) & the fried pickles with ranch. As ranch addicts this stuff was top notch. The pickles tasted gourmet which we were surprisingly impressed with as that’s no easy feat making fried pickles taste more than just that, fried pickles.

Onto dessert where we just about lost it with happiness was the chocolate chess cake warmed up & topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. The ice cream may be optional on the menu but in our eyes it’s completely necessary. The pairing is one we really wouldn’t mind having every. single. night.

Make sure to check out Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken at 847 W. Fulton Market, Chicago, IL!
