Why I Love Sakara (+ a promo code!)

A few weeks back I was documenting my experience with Sakara on Instagram stories & I seriously have never received so many DM’s about a specific topic before. “Is it good?” “Worth they hype?” “Worth the price?” “Is it filling?” “How do I get some?” the list went on & on. Engaging with you guys & finding things we all share a common love for is my favorite part about what I do. So I figured why not throw together a little blog post honestly telling you about my experience with Sakara. Below I answer all the questions I received but if you have any others feel free to shoot me a DM or email at: [email protected] XO

ABOVE: Sakara Harissa Falafel with Cashew Tzaziki & Ruby Hummus

1. What is Sakara?

Sakara is an organic meal delivery service that focuses on whole foods & plant based ingredients. It’s not a diet but rather a lifestyle so the meals are super healthy, filling, & delicious. The point isn’t to starve you or have you “fast” or “cleanse” but rather give your body the nutrients it needs to function at it’s maximum level. Their meals consist of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients that they package into the most tasty recipes & deliver to your front door in eco-friendly packaging. Don’t worry, I thought it was too good to be true too. BUT…

2. Is it worth the hype? Is it worth the hype?

To me, Saraka far exceeded the hype I had previously heard. When you read that everyone from Lily Aldridge to Chrissy Teigen eats Sakara, it’s hard not to want to try it. I was blown away with how tasty & filing the meals were (more on that in #3 & 4) but also with how easy & quick it was to order. While Sakara focuses on plant based foods & counts itself as a Vegan, gluten-free food service, they can also accommodate any dietary restrictions you have. What was really cool to me was that since I actually enjoyed the meals, by the end of my week I was wanting more. I wanted more plant based foods, less grains, less sugar, more greens, I wanted more Sakara (shoutout to my parents for getting me another week of Sakara for the holidays!!). Oh also, I almost forgot, with every order they send tons of tea bags, a full sized bottle of their rose water drops & chlorophyll drops, palo santo, & other goodies for you to have the most perfect week. Aka you definitely get the bang for your buck.

3. Were you starving after all the meals?

Honestly, going into my week of Sakara I thought I was going to be starving all. week. long. I planned tons of things to distract myself (I’m guilty of picking when I’m just sitting at home…), prepared myself to be super cranky, & kept telling myself it was only one week. My first meal of breakfast was Almond Butter & Jelly (aka almond butter, blackberry jam, & toasted oat bread) which was pretty filling. But my second meal of Harissa Falafel with Cashew Tzaziki & Ruby Hummus? Dear lord I couldn’t even finish the meal! I was SO full, it was insane. Don’t even get me started on dinner which was Wild Mushroom Pasta with Black Truffle Oil & Sautéed Spinach. Words can’t even express how freakin’ good this was. The rest of the meals went the same way, either satisfied & content with how I felt after I finished the meal or not even able to finish the entire meal. Being that the meals are all plant based I think it’s normal for someone, like myself, who ate a good amount of processed & meat heavy meals to feel like they’d be hungry. Sakara really blew my mind with this one & it was one of the reasons I’ve tried to turn to a more plant based diet.

4. Does it taste good?

BEYOND. I truly wish I could eat Sakara all day, everyday because the meals were sooo tasty. Their Breezy Berry Scone with Slow-Churned Apple Butter tasted like straight up cookie dough (aka my dream come true) & their Daydreamer Soba Bowl (Japanese-inspired noodle dish with mushrooms, beets, & a yummy dressing) was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Another bonus point for Sakara is that their dressings are ridiculously delicious & you’d never guess they’re healthy! They also give you pretty big portions of dressings so I ended up stashing the leftovers in the fridge so I could continue using healthier dressings in the coming weeks.
