Burger Birthday Bash

Burger Birthday Bash

I’ve seen people make burger cakes a ton & I’ve always wanted to try one. So yesterday when my Big Mac obsessed best friend turned 23 I knew I had to make her this cake.

This cake is fairly simple yet pretty time consuming. I even had to blow off my friend on her birthday to work on this cake…oops! Layered between two “buns” of champagne cake lies a chocolate “patty” cake topped with fondant cheese & lettuce. After all, what better combinations: champagne & chocolate and burgers & birthdays!

The trickiest part about making this case is the top “bun”. Even though you’re making it within a oven safe bowl, make sure you spray it with baking spray until its completely coated with a disgusting amount of spray. The top half of my top “bun” got stuck to the bottom of the pan (even though I sprayed a ton of baking spray in there!) leaving it to be a bit crumbled looking in the end. I was going to redo the cake but like I said, I had to give it to my friend for her birthday & didn’t have enough time to make another one. After consulting with a friend about it, (I was stressing quite a bit), she said it gave it more of a natural look. After all, when was the last time your Big Mac actually looked anything like the advertisement?!

Oh, and if for some reason you attempt to make this cake & it severely fails? Go to McDonald’s, order 10 Big Mac’s & two large fries. Eat one of the large fries on your walk home & then build a cake out of the remaining fries & burgers like this one I made below!
